My Story

I became what they couldn’t have expected

I’m a coach, and a speaker, but not because of how my birth family raised me. I’ve made my own path because of who I choose to be.  I was raised in poverty in Chicago, and I was a victim of abuse. If my father would have had it his way, I would have been a professional criminal. I had trouble sleeping as a kid, and because of that people gave me all kinds of books to read through the night. Philosophy, religion, fiction, mythology, comic books, science fiction, you name it. It’s truly the one thing that messed up my fathers plan, and when I began to listen to my own voice.

When I was a kid I read ‘Batman’ comics, and it gave me a clear idea of ‘good guy’ and ‘bad guy’, and I was never the same. I always wanted to be the hero, and never the villain, and to this day I live by that. Batman was an antihero, so everyone thought he did bad things, but he always did it to save lives, or get bad guys. In that, I learned that it just takes the right perspective to see the good.  I took that lens, and tried to help other people understand it the best I could. When I graduated my first college at 15, I began taking that perspective into work, and as I viewed things differently, I noticed that not only I could help people see the world differently, but I could also help businesses see a different perspective as well. I Became a corporate trainer, and in my personal life I was ‘coaching’ before I even knew what that meant because I didn’t think it was real. I continued that trajectory through my whole life. Assisting big organizations align their teams and strategies, and after work, I’d talk to and help the distraught man or woman at the bar who was drinking because her car accident left her disabled.  I didn’t even believe that I’d been doing it my whole life until my brother helped me see through the lens that he saw me through. I’ve worked with C Suite Executives,

I believe that no matter what your trauma, no matter what your pain, or your personal block, you can be better than you were yesterday. Worst case scenario, even if you try and fail, you’ll have everything you started with. Sometimes, everybody just needs someone to be honest, who doesn’t pull punches, and truly believes in them so that they can do the work to be a better human.

Aspire to inspire at least one person a day.
